CREDIT UNION PURPOSE
The American Hammered Federal Credit Union is a non-profit financial cooperative organization by people who share a common bond. The Credit Union was chartered on February 12, 1948. It has grown from the original nine members and $45 in shares to 1,050 members and over $5.5 million in assets. The Credit Union exists to serve its members and is dedicated to providing convenient, responsive, personalized and progressive financial services. As a member-owner you have a say in the way your credit union is run. All approved members, with $5.00 in shares, have voting and participating rights at the annual meeting. At this meeting you have the opportunity to elect your Board of Directors, who are members just like you. They determine policies, review financial conditions, propose programs and give direction to the Credit Union Management and Staff.
Your shares (Savings) are protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund to a maximum of $100,000. Your regular shares are also insured with a death benefit to match a maximum of your share balance, up to $5,000, based on age and physical condition at the time of deposit. | |
